Welcome to St. John’s Primary School.

Our Primary school is a caring community in which we help the children to develop confidence and a sense of self-worth.

The staff at St. John’s are a strong dedicated team, who work closely together to cater for the individual needs of our children. Our aim here is to provide the best in education for all our pupils, whatever their ability. We make every effort to ensure that each child can develop their academic, social and personal skills to their full potential in a safe, stimulating and caring environment. We believe that children and staff learn best when they are relaxed and happy so we put emphasis on having fun and making school enjoyable. We are a learning school and our aim is to seek ways of helping ourselves and the children in our care deepen understanding, or to improve our skills, whether intellectual, social, physical, artistic, spiritual or creative. We see every child as an individual and we work with them to support when needed or to challenge them further. Our qualified teachers are given support by a number of staff including Classroom Assistants, Language Support Personnel, EAL and SEN departments. Class numbers are kept low to allow for greater individual attention.
Within the Primary School the curriculum is based on the British National Curriculum and also makes use of the national and cultural heritage of Thailand. We have high expectations of our pupils and our aim is to achieve excellence not only in the teaching of core subjects, but also in providing a wide range of rich experiences, which enhance learning in the National Curriculum and beyond. We seek to make learning fun.
Specialist teachers provide the PE and Music curricula. At St. John’s we are a keen participant in international sports competitions sponsored by BISAC and this includes soccer, basketball and swimming, to name but a few. We have an excellent large purpose built sports hall and a superb swimming pool.
We ensure that a proportion of the timetable meets the needs of the Thai Curriculum for those who are Thai nationals, while other students receive Thai as an Additional Language. Children are taken on exciting and stimulating educational visits throughout the academic year enhancing their understanding of class work. Children in Years 3-5 are taught Mandarin and Year 6 students, French.
Our students are taught in line with the best UK educational methodology, reading schemes and educational materials are mostly imported and the school offers a superbly resourced library and two computer suites. Our primary teachers use Interactive Whiteboards to help make their lessons as stimulating as possible.
A rigorous process of assessment monitors the children’s development throughout the primary school and children are set regular targets in all areas of the curriculum. Currently our primary school children complete the National Curriculum tests in English, Mathematics and Science. We also take part in the PIPs testing and target setting process. We have regular meetings with parents and children to inform on the progress that the child is making and to discuss the targets that have been set.
At St. John’s International School we believe in educating the whole child and provide a happy, nurturing, caring and secure environment where each pupil is helped to feel equally important and is encouraged to achieve his / her potential in all aspects of school life. I would welcome the opportunity to show you around our school, please contact our school office for an appointment.
