Special Features of our Program

ESL

For those students who would like to complete their high school studies in English but whose English language skills are not enough to go into our mainstream classes, we offer an intensive ESL program.

1. Mainstream with ESL Subjects

In this program, the student is judged capable of understanding enough English to take such courses as mathemetics, science and computer studies. Additional courses would include reading, writing, listening, speaking and vocabulary-building. Our teachers pay special attention to the language needs of our students, even within classes of other subjects.

2. Pre-Matriculation Year

If a student has little or no English skills, we offer a complete year of intensive English language instruction with limited exposure to the core high-school courses.  This is a non-credit year but would allow a student to quickly improve his or her language skills to where he or she should be able to go into a mainstream class the following year.

The pre-matriculation year may be between M. 2 (Grade 9) and M. 3 (Grade 10). See our Table of Grade Level Equivalencies to understand grade level comparisons of different countries.
